Read more about us and our story

The historic house, dated 2nd half of the 17th century, is part of the seventeenth-century Canal Ring Area of UNESCO World heritage Centre.

OUR STORY

Our journey started in 2006 when Ingrid, the current owner, decided to take over the hotel from the previous owners. Starting out slowly with just her, a single staff member and her two children, Katarina & Martin. 18 years later the hotel is still run by Ingrid and her family.

Major renovation of 2014, featuring Katarina's prints, has shaped the hotel into its today's beauty including Salon de Thé. All though our hotel has changed its shapes plenty of times, the main goal hasn't. Making our guests feel at home and our staff members being part of our family.

THE ARTWORK

An artist and print designer, Katarina Stupavska who is the author of the hotel's designs, has brought together the core historical elements of Amsterdam with a particular artistic beauty. With your next visit, you can yourself witness, what qualifies as incontrovertibly beautiful work of art which will welcome you as you step in your hotel room. wad-studio.com

What our guests say:

Staff was very friendly and amazing! Great location which was walking distance to everything. Complimentary breakfast was a huge plus and delicious. Rooms were very comfortable.

RYAN

Great location, just steps away from the over crowded centre, the hotel makes you feel you are in an authentic Amsterdam building, lovely room overlooking the canal, good breakfast. A nice touch on New Year's eve when we were left champagne and chocolates in the room.

ALEX

Breakfast was excellent. Location could not have been better. Staff went above and beyond. Would stay here again.

JOHN

The very cute breakfast cafe was such a lovely way to start our day. Room size was perfect for a short stay. Stairs were very steep. But that’s Amsterdam! Older or mobility impaired travelers may struggle though.

LIESL

Best canal location. Clean, comfortable, quiet. Good breakfast in the pretty cafe downstairs.

The staff were extremely accommodating and pleasant. The cafe attached to the hotel had a great breakfast and the coffee and sweets were excellent. One of the staff laid out her homemade cookies on New Year's Eve and each guest got a bottle of Champagne and chocolates. We had a canal view room and a room in the back. The room in the back was fairly standard, but very clean and quiet. The canal view room was beautiful. We would sit in the windows reading as the world went by below us. The location of the hotel is perfect. Close to everything, yet still in a quiet part of town. We walked everywhere, comfortably and easily.

Hotel and cafe was beautiful and staff were very friendly and helpful. We got there a bit early as they were just cleaning the room but within half an hour they let us check in early which was very helpful (and that half an hour allowed us to sample the amazing hot chocolate they do there!) the hotel is walking distance to everything but is on a lovely quiet canal away from all the hustle and bustle! Absolutely loved our stay

CAITLYN
